The Emporia Municipal Court handles violations of City Ordinances, most of which are filed by the Emporia Police Department and are of a traffic or misdemeanor nature. Certain other city personnel charged with enforcing various types of city building, zoning, fire, and other miscellaneous codes also file cases in the court.
Emporia State University Police also file traffic and misdemeanor ordinance violations in the municipal court.
Payments made to the court, may be done in person during office hours via U.S. mail or over the phone, with a valid MasterCard or visa credit/debit card.
