One of Emporia’s keystones of success for the future is their educational system. Coupled with a diverse and ever-changing population, Emporia’s USD 253 public school district will make it their goal to challenge students in reaching his/her highest educational potential. With a long-term commitment on educational excellence, Emporia is able to provide a relevant curriculum in a safe and sound educational environment.

For higher educational purposes, Emporia State University (ESU) and Flint Hills Technical College offer courses for determined scholars. ESU is located near downtown at 1200 Commercial; offering advanced educational degrees in all sorts of academic fields. In fact, because teaching is a dominate field of study, ESU students often find themselves helping at local public schools for hands on experience to help develop better teaching skills.

Flint Hills Technical College allows education in technology based vocational studies. Their main campus is across the street from Emporia High School at 3301 W. 18th Ave. Students there will find themselves experiencing hands on study to prepare for a career in their field of study.
